The Veteran Field Manual does not ask you to create an account, and it has no contact or sign-up forms. It collects no personal information from you directly. It does use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which set cookies and collect usage data as described below.
Information we collect directly
None. There are no login, comment, newsletter, or contact forms on this site, so we do not ask for or store your name, email address, or any other personal detail. The interactive tools (calculators and statement builders) run entirely in your browser. Anything you type into a tool stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any server, and any saved draft lives only in your own browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time.
Information collected automatically by third parties
We use two Google services that collect data on our behalf:
Google Analytics 4. This measures how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location by country/region, device and browser type, and how visitors arrive. It uses cookies and similar identifiers. We use it only to understand which guides are helpful and how people find the site. We do not collect or store personally identifying information through Analytics.
Google AdSense. This serves the advertising that funds the free content. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to show and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your prior activity, subject to your Google account and browser settings. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's advertising policies. You can review and control ad personalization at My Ad Center.
Embedded YouTube videos. Video is embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set tracking cookies unless you press play. Once you play a video, YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site or its partners store in your browser. This site itself does not set its own cookies; the cookies present come from the Google services above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalized Google advertising at My Ad Center or industry-wide at optout.aboutads.info. Blocking cookies does not affect your ability to read the guides or use the tools.
How the data is used
Analytics data is used only to improve the content and understand traffic. Advertising data is handled by Google to serve and measure ads. We do not sell your data, and we do not build profiles on individual visitors. We have no way to, since we collect nothing that identifies you.
Data retention
We do not hold any personal data ourselves. Google retains Analytics and advertising data according to its own retention settings and policies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults dealing with veterans' benefits and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
You can browse without providing any personal information. You can opt out of ad personalization, clear or block cookies, and clear any tool drafts saved in your browser at any time through your browser's settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
